It slips unnoticed down the street

Through an unlocked window creeps

Fools the dog, beats the heat

Crawls in underneath the sheets

Can't sleep for the north wind

Counting sheep with the north wind

It's bringing news of caribou

Oil wells and ozone blues

Talking about an Alaskan cruise

Lean into the wickiup

Before the water all freezes up

Getting beat up by the north wind

Or maybe just freed up by the north wind

Spreading like aurora borealis

All the way from Fairbanks to Dallas

It blows in underneath your tent

Whips up a brand new testament
