1. Heartland into my heart |
I became a father at a rather ripe age, and I use that as an excuse for expressing such sentimentality. So this is a glimpse of my internal dialogue, wrestling with the question of whether it's crazy to wince at every little separation, knowing that separation is the ultimate reward of parental love. |

Close the DoorStephen R. Coffee ©2003
One breath leads to another You don't have listen anymore She'll be fine by herself here Just close the door
But leave it cracked You never know When the goblins might show Or when you should holding on Instead of letting go
She can find you if she needs you She doesn't need to hear you snore What if she's coming down with something? Hey, close the door
But leave it cracked You never know When the goblins might show And you know the hardest part Is the letting go
She can sleep in her own room Even though she's – well, she is four Don't forget, she's a big girl And close the door
